# Mobile apps

To be able to use the mobile apps with your Web File Share installation you need to enable the API.

A SSL enabled web server is required. (Your Web File Share URL needs to start with “https://” and not “http://”). (For testing only, you can temporarily enable the API via “http://”. See “[Testing without SSL](http://docs.filerun.com/api#testing_without_ssl "api")”)

Please follow these steps:

1. <div>Login to the Web File Share installation as superuser.</div>
2. <div>Open the control panel.</div>
3. <div>Select “API” from the menu (under “Security”).</div>
4. <div>Select the “Enable API” checkbox.</div>
5. <div>Click “Save Changes”.</div>
